CROYO Headquarters: Creating a Productive and Collaborative Workspace

An Open-Plan Office Designed by Yang Jianxun and Wu Minwen

Founded in 2012, CROYO is a diversified company dedicated to establishing a design industry ecosphere. With their new headquarters in Nanning, China, CROYO aimed to create a workspace that not only promotes productivity but also fosters collaboration and creativity.

Bearing in mind that the original intention of design is to serve people, Yang Jianxun and Wu Minwen, the chief designers at Shenzhen Super Normal Design Co., Ltd., created an open-plan office where users can enjoy working while ensuring efficiency of work and communication. The designers attached great importance to designing a leisure area in the office, allowing different teams to communicate freely and generate a collision of ideas at a deep level.

One of the unique features of the CROYO headquarters is the lighting design in each independent office. Instead of installing lighting fixtures on the ceiling, the interior and lighting designers made a new attempt by using Waldmann free-standing luminaires. This solution not only gives the ceiling a simple and clean look but also ensures that the light is soft and pleasant. With an average color temperature of 4000k, the workspace is bright and inviting.

The original space occupied only 280 sqm, with a story height of 5.09 m. To expand the usable area, the designers took the innovative step of setting up a floor slab. Integrating structures with the walls, arranging the structural pillars strategically, and carefully positioning each lighting fixture, they designed and installed a 150mm-thick floor slab, enhancing the user experience.

The CROYO headquarters is not just a workspace; it is a place where ideas flow and collaboration thrives. The open-plan layout encourages interaction and communication among team members, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. The leisure area provides a relaxing environment for employees to unwind and engage in informal discussions, leading to the generation of fresh ideas and innovative solutions.

Located at A2-2-708, Greenland Central Plaza, Dongge Road, Qingxiu District, Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China, the CROYO headquarters project took place from April 2017 to April 2018. The design team, led by Yang Jianxun and Wu Minwen, included Zhang Lei, Li Jianing, Wang Chuangzhe, and Song Xiangqian. The decoration design was a collaboration between Super Normal Design and CROYO, with lighting instruction by Pan Yu.

The exceptional design of the CROYO headquarters was recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award acknowledges the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The CROYO headquarters exemplifies the integration of technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in the quality of life and making the world a better place.
